Swarna holds a BFA degree from Massachussetts College Of Art in Boston, MA, a Primary Montessori Diploma from Association Montessori Internationale
and has completed her Montessori studies for the elementary level. A teacher trainer for the Montessori Institute of Advanced Studies through Hayward State University, she works with second year student teachers
in science, art and the outdoor environment.
Swarna also serves on the Board of Directors of Oakland's Elizabeth House, transitional living for women and their families where she is a child and parent consultant and
donates her time teaching parenting classes. As a member of Rotary International, Swarna also works on behalf of the Netza Coyachachitil school, a school for indigenous children in Mexico.
Swarna has been
teaching for 30 years and has taught all levels from toddler through college. She believes that the years between two and six are the most important for human educational development.
